The Mangling of Logic pt. 1

Check out this video clip. At about the 2:40 mark, the host of the show (I don't know her name) says "...but don't you think the fact they foiled this plot, at least in Great Britain, shows that we're making progress toward being safer?". She's refering to the recent arrests in Great Britain of men accused of trying to smuggle liquid ingredients used to make an explosive onto an airplane.

One observation; doesn't the existence (her assumption, not mine, remember they're accused ) of a terrorist plot indicate we're NOT safer? Wouldn't we be safer without terrorist plots?

Also, I love her first concern. She laments her not being able to take her expensive make-up onboard anymore.
